Bright indirect light to direct sun (250+fc).

Water entire root ball. Bulb-like trunk stores water, so allow media to dry down 1/2 to 3/4 of container before watering again. They need to dry out between waterings. Underwater symptoms include oldest leaves turning brown, dried up roots and shriveled stems. Overwatering symptoms include yellowish foliage, brown “wet” leaf tips, pale new growth and stem and root rot.

Pull off brown foliage. B. recurvata tolerates temperature extremes and direct sun. Must have a sunny location or new growth gets flopsy and weak. Keep plant in container only slightly larger than trunk to avoid overwatering stress. Long living plant that rarely needs repotting.

Spider and Cyclamen mites, mealybug, scale, occasionally crown and root rot.
